Hi. Myself and my wife are planning to move to spain in the next 6 months.

We have been told that to apply for residency we either have to own a property or have a long term rental contract.

We were planning to stay with relatives in spain while we looked for and then purchased a property.

Is it possible to apply for residency when staying with relatives.

Any advice or info would be appreciated.

Yes, providing your relatives are agreeable to you signing on the padrón temporarily whilst you apply for residency.

I assume you've read my residency guide. It needs updating to reflect current financial requirements etc, but the theory is still good.
