This is a little off topic, but when we went to renew our Yorkies 🐕 pet insurance yesterday we were told they no longer offer pet insurance due to Brexit, even though we are residents. ☹

We did get quote from another company it was in excess of €300, which only offered very basic cover, so we have to shop around and find something more in line with the premium we were paying.

We travelled out with Lucy by Monarch ( who no longer trade) the cost was in excess of £700, Brexit has thrown everything up in the air no pun intended, regarding the movement of Pets throughout the EU, might be worth checking the UK Government website for their advice.

From memory KLM used to allow small dogs under a certain weight in the cabin, but I don't know if this is still the case.

Hi Peter,

You don't say when you're coming to Spain, or how long you plan to stay, so in the first instance, I'd recommend reading the post-Brexit changes on the www.gov.uk/Brexit website:

"PET TRAVEL: ALLOW AT LEAST 4 MONTHS TO ARRANGE

After Brexit you will not be able to use the existing pet passport scheme.

Instead you’ll need to follow a different process, which takes 4 months.

Follow the guidance about pet travel to Europe after Brexit."

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Peter,

If you're a UK citizen, you may not be able to stay for 9 months, depending on the terms of Bojo's Brexit deal.  If we leave without a deal, you'll only be able to stay a maximum of 90 days in a rolling 180 days period.

As things currently stand, if BoJo's deal is approved, the transition period ends on 31 December 2020.  If he has to seek an extension, say, to end January 2020, then I assume the transition period will end 3 months later as well, so timing is going to be key to your plans.

Of course, I'm assuming you're a UK citizen, but if you're Irish or from another European country,  then none of this applies.

Kind regards,

Kim
