Hola.....We are preparing to drive from here, La Florida, to Cherbourg, at the end of the month

and returning at the end of December. I'm a little worried about the weather conditions, i.e. snow,

ice, etc, during both journeys. If any one out there has driven to and from Cherbourg around this

time of the year, please advise  as to what we can expect. Thank You in advance. J.

hi

dont worry we go 3/4 times a year from la marina to caen normally but have been from all ports, you might see some snow on top of the mountains, so check your car fluids / tyres / belts / brakes etc properly

Do you pick a particular route to cope with the weather?  Particularly around the Pyranees?

Many thanks

we tom tom shortest routes with toll roads, we haven't found the weather a problem but there are plenty of places to stop if you did get a sudden bad weather . i think January this year we had a bit of snow at the top but the dog loved it , so allow a few extra hours for traveling to ferries, tomtom says 16 hours from la marina to caen so we make 22 hours including stops/rests as both of us drive and arriving early for ferry

kind regards barry

Get some snow chains if you are going anywhere near Andora you must use them if snow by law

shortest route will either take you through perpignan / toulouse  for caen or pamplona / bordeax for the channel tunnel. if you end up in andorra then you have totally lost the route and you should give up driving have a safe journey
