Hi all quick question.

We land at 11.50pm does day 1 start from when we land or when we get to security and have passport stamped?

Thanks

Hi Smiles11,

According to the Schengen rules, it's the date of entry that determines when you arrive in Schengen, so if you arrive today, whether it was at 00.01 am this morning, or 11.59pm this evening, today is your first day in Schengen.  Similarly, your date of exit is considered your last day in Schengen.  If your plane touches down on Spanish soil at 11.50pm, but it takes 20 minutes to disembark and get through passport control, you still arrived in Schengen at 11.50pm.

Also, in the absence of a passport stamp, the Spanish Embassy only accepts flight boarding passes as proof of entry which will, of course, show your arrival time at 11.50pm today, irrespective of any subsequent delays - and considering the penalties that the Spanish authorities can apply for overstaying, I wouldn't have thought it worth the risk for the sake of 1 day.

Kind regards,

Kim

Ok thank you, used the calculator and it saying we will be 1 day over.

I thought we had a few days spare when working it out!

Chancing it to squeeze the last hours out of a stay is always going to be risky.

If it were me I'd probably book 88 days!

Thanks just realized I was looking at wrong flight and we land at 00.15 so should be ok

it's all separate times and adds up to 88 days but when I put dates in calculator it says 91!
