Do I have to have my main gas checked
Had a call telling me I had to have my gas installation checked and they would charge, is this right. So many con artists around have to be careful

The law, Real Decreto 984/2015, updated in 2018, requires a check to be done every five years:
https://www.boe.es/buscar/act.php?id=BOE-A-2015-11725
An inspection certificate - a boletín - will be issued to confirm the gas installation is safe. If you ever needed to make an insurance claim for a gas related problem, and you didn't have a boletín, then you would have a problem.
If you had the gas supply and appliances connected, then I'd have expected the installers to have provided the boletín.
Try to find a reputable gas engineer to do the inspection. Ask your supplier, your neighbours, or Repsol or Cepsa. I certainly wouldn't go for a cold caller. Before you call in an engineer, check the expiry dates on the orange rubber hoses, as changing them is something you can do yourself.

Gas is hazardous in whatever the form of delivery so, no, it doesn't make a difference.
