Unfortunately not, you can thank Brexit for that.

Residency and/or property ownership make no difference to that.

If the badge is issued in the Uk then the answer is no, unfortunately.  Mutual recognition between EU countries only.

What would happen if a person parked in a disabled space, eg at the beach, and displayed a UK blue badge - is there a fine? How would this work with a hire car?

You CAN get fined but if the person looking at badge is in a good mood then they may be considerate and decide that a Blue Badge is a Blue Badge regardless of where it is issued and let it go.  Down to the individual concerned.

Thanks, I’ll have to risk it due to mobility problems 🙁

If they decided to give you a fine they would trace your name and address in the UK through the hire company and send the fine there.

Thanks for your reply. Is there any way to get a temporary Spanish disability badge for the duration of the holiday or is that a complete no no?

Its very difficult for a resident disabled person to get a blue badge here in Spain. It involves getting a physical examination by a specialist and submitting the findings. A local Spanish doctor is also required to make a report. I can't say how long it would take but nothing is done here in a matter of weeks. Knowing a little about the systems here in Spain I would guess at 6 months....
