Good Evening

We are coming over to La Marina Urb in April, where would be the closest place to apply for our NIE as we will be on a property search for future long stays in La Marina.

Thanks in advance.

You can apply for your NIE in the UK at a Spanish embassy. We used Edinburgh but I believe they are in Manchester and London also. Make an appointment fill in a form which you take with you to the embassy and that’s it. You get your NIE number about 10 days later.

I belive the OP is asking about where to get an NIE in Spain not UK.

If so you will need appointments which in most cases are taking many weeks to secure.

Going to a professional lawyer can speed things up - but at a cost - some are known to charge €200 or more each!

You will need an address of some sort but not sure a short term holiday let will suffice.

Try the services of a local Gestor who will help you get an appointment and possibly accompany you to the Police Station to get your NIE. Far cheaper than a solicitor.

Hi Evvo,

As you're not coming to Spain until April, you may be able to get your NIE here if you organise it in advance.  The closest place to La Marina to apply for your NIE would be the Policia Nacional in Elche.  You don't need a lawyer to help with this, a good gestor can sort it out for you for a much lower fee - I'd recommend Uma Sanz at Get Legal In Spain:

https://www.getlegalinspain.com/index.html

I'd suggest contacting her now with your dates, so that she has time to secure an appointment for you.

Alternatively, you can do as PedroB suggests and apply through a Spanish Consulate in the UK - give your reason for applying as you want to open a Spanish bank account (not that you want to buy a house).

Kind regards,

Kim
