Hi,

I am considering looking at Daya Vieja to purchase a holiday apartment with a view to full time living.

I would appreciate anyones opinion who is living in this village or immediate surrounding areas.

Thanks in advance

Ian

Hi Ian,

I live on the outskirts of Los Palacios (Formentera del Segura) and can walk to the  centre of Daya Vieja in 15 minutes.  I really like the village, which has a few bars, some which serve food, a social centre, bread shop, cash point and a swimming pool complex.  For what appears to be a typically Spanish village, there's quite a large number of Brits living there.  Many belong to local groups, such as petanque and padel, and a good place to meet them is at Kiosko Bar Raquel, in the centre of the village, overlooking the park.  If you like walking or cycling, you have easy access to the quiet country lanes around the village and to the tracks on the Segura river where you can go down to Guardamar if you want.  In the other direction, I've only been as far as Algorfa, but I'm sure you could go much further along the river.

You will need some form of transport to do food shopping, with the closest supermarkets in Formentera or Benimar, on the outskirts of Rojales.

Come for a visit, sit at Raquel's with a drink and you'll soon be chatting to locals.  It's a good way to get a feel for the place.

Kind regards,

Kim

Thank you so much for the information.

I am visiting in early March for 3 months and staying in La Marina Village.  I know the coastal area fairly well having visited for many years.  I will take your advice Kim and have a few trips into the village and have a coffee at Raquels.

Cycling, walking, speaking Spanish (badly) is something I enjoy doing without to many hills (oh my poor knees!).

Hi Ian

I can concur with Kims description of the area and have enjoyed more than one cerveza in Raquels. I live in Daya Nueva which is the next village if you head towards Almoradi. As far as cycling is concerned the entire area is predominantly flat and even at 72 years old I manage to cycle 40kms every morning.

Hope you have a successful search. Kindest Regards

Neil
