Entry forms into Spain

You do not need to be invited to stay at your own property?

The form is for Spanish nationals/residents to complete to allow visitors to their property.

As a non resident if you are stopped on entry, which is probably highly unlikely, but to be on the safe side you would just need to show proof that you own a property eg copy deeds.

I was starting to panic thinking I had to do the form for my friend as she is coming out with me! I will copy my Deeds just in case!

Strictly speaking you DO require this for your friend (not for you). However they are unlikely to be asked for it (same as return flight details, proof of funds etc) BUT if asked and they don't have it then they could be refused entry

Thanks David, it's been on my mind and having read about it, I wanted to check things out. Knowing my luck..... it will happen to me!!!

Only people registered as a resident in Spain may apply for the Carta on behalf of their friends  and family. The friends and family must stay in the applicants home, second home or the rented accommodation occupied by the applicant.  At the first (of two) appointments the resident needs to show the completed application form and proof of payment of the first (again of two) fees  and needs to show  proof of residency and a copy padron as well as rental agreement or house deeds.

 Therefore Non resident home owners cannot apply for the Carta de Invitación.  “Officially” if they want to allow friends and family to stay in their holiday home in Spain then the property should be registered with the Registro de Tourismo and they should issue a rental contract and a confirmation of booking.

There's a lot going on with property that owners don't realise and I'm one of them.... Its not worth the aggro having anyone staying it seems!

I have a holiday home in Spain which I do not rent out. My husband and I use it every now and then.   We’re visiting on Tuesday and my son and his wife and baby are flying over for 5 days. They will be travelling with return tickets on British Airways and I do not expect anyone to stop them entering the country.  I’ve absolutely no intention of applying for a tourist rental licence when I will not be renting our house out.  I’d be horrified if we were stopped and told we couldn’t go to our house as it doesn’t have a tourist licence…the same applies to my family. I’d also like to think that friends could come and stay too.  

Poor Marilyn should book her flights with her friend and go over and enjoy a nice holiday instead of worrying about such a ghastly experience.  I don’t know anyone who has ever experienced such a thing and I know lots of people who have holuday homes in Spain.

Totally agree.

Spain have a multitude of laws regarding property etc , the vast majority are not enforced.

Red tape is for mañana.
