Morning all,

Sadly, one of my friends has had her purse stolen in Mercadona at La Marina and then €1,200 taken from her account at 2 cashponts on the urb.

Fortunately, the Guardia have obtained CCTV of the thief at both cashpoints used and also at the bins behind a local bar, where he dumped the cards, so hopefully an arrest will be made soon.

In the meantime, please be very careful when out shopping, especially ladies shopping on your own.  When entering your pin number in card machines, please be aware of everyone around you, zip up your handbag before putting it over your shoulder, don't be tempted to put it on the front seat of your car, while you're loading the boot.  Apologies, I know this is all common sense, but it only takes one slip of your guard and some scumbag will take advantage, especially if they've targeted you long before they commit their crime.

Take care everyone,

Kim

All to often, seemingly, wherever you are in the world this kind of opportunist crime rears its ugly head.

Ugly being the relevant word ,because these scum are Ugly inside. They care not fig about other members of Society and deserve all the scorn that is heaped upon them.

As Kim says, we all know it goes on but have to be vigilant on things like items such as wallets and handbags ,plus items left on show in vehicles and security at cash points. Dont give the Rats food to feed themselves on.

On the point of cash machines and PIN numbers ,if you everr feel someone is too close to you whilst you are using one , then do not be embarrassed to politely say to them  " excuse me but would you mind moving back a bit please ". , I know ,for some, that may be awkward and embarrassing but think of the poor lady Kim has just described and let that give you courage to request that space be allowed. If they take the huff, then stuff them, its your money that is important and not them.

Hi Jacqui,

No, the bar's CCTV happened to catch the thief disposing of the cards, after he'd been to the 2 ATMs, but the theft occurred in or around Mercadona's car park, so that's where you need to be on your guard.

Take care,

Kim

As everyone said these people are total scum bags.

If only punishment to these people could be public floggings.......

"do gooders"........tough!

Cut off a hand at a time and if all else fails stone them.

Terrible to get robbed of your card, so who ever pinched it must have seen the pin number put in the card machine, how on earth did they get that close when we suppose to be keeping our distance, hope they name and shame who has done this.🤬

"zip up your handbag before putting it over your shoulder". Better to have any bag in front of you. (male or female). Put the strap around your neck with bag in front of you. Bags over shoulders are easy pickings for these scum.

I agree, I always where a cross-body bag, so that it's in front of me where I can see it, but my friend was carrying a shoulder bag and trying to carry shopping at the same time.  Of course, she was also on her own because of the current restrictions.

If carrying shopping, put your bag inside the shopping bag. If there is no room for it, get another bag from store.
