Hi there can anyone recommend a trades person who is skilled at laying laminate flooring.

Needs to be reliable and trustworthy and who can do a quality job. If anyone knows of anybody I would be grateful if they could pass on their details.

Many thanks

Hi

I was wondering how you got on with your flooring as I would be interested in this.

I was thinking of having Amtico or Karndean but at the moment it seems a lot of upheaval.

If anybody has had this done I was wondering how it fairs in winter and summer with expansion and contraction?

I will need to see how much will come off the doors and how the border/scotia fits to existing ceramic border........ or does this get removed and a higher skirting installed.

If you only have one room done how does it get finished off for the different levels?

Thanks in kind anticipation of anyone’s time.

Regards

GC

An alternative to laminate might be Pergo vinyl planks. They are warmer than laminate, not as noisy to walk on and much easier to lay.

Looks good.

I’ve done a bit of research from karndean and Amtico.

It appears to be all about the base it goes on.

I would love to hear from someone who has had this done. Ceramics are a nightmare.

I feel a good opportunity coming on,

Regards

Hi there

If you are thinking of Karndean or Amtico it is a relatively easy process, thanks to the slim profile of their products compared to laminate flooring which has a bigger depth. The problem is that you will need a latex screed to be applied as both these products will show through the foundation it is laid on over time, particularly annoying if it is a room where you can follow the light along the floor and see the undulations!

Like all jobs, get the preparation sorted correctly and it should be straightforward enough.

With both products also I would recommend you go to an approved installer, otherwise warranty will not apply, plus approved installers will make sure patterns and layouts are completed correctly too!

Hope that helps?

Hi Kenneth,

You wouldn’t happen to know of a local (to La Marina) pergo supplier / fitter would you?  My search on their site came up empty and the product seems just what we want.

I’ll call them directly if not.

Cheers

Geoff

A Spanish friend of mine bought laminate flooring from Leroy Merlin and had it laid by one of their fitters. I watched the guy doing some of it and was impressed by the way he was working. More than a year later, it still looks as good as when it was laid - not a single crack or bounce anywhere. Mind you, his sister that lives with him wears sensible shoes, and not high heels.
