We bought before the lockdown and have since managed 2 trips we plan on returning every 3-4 weeks at the moment we turn off the water and electric at the end of each visit the water is no problem but the electric is a pain as it means emptying the fridge and freezer is the electric reliable enough for us to leave on?

many thanks Terry

I always turn off both too as there’s big gaps between visits but on a couple of occasions where somebody be back in a few weeks we left the electrics on. The bedside clock/radio was our best guide. If the clock was flashing it meant the power was off & the freezer food would be dumped. It’s everybody fear that their power could be off for a few days & the food thaw & refreeze

Hi

I've been living around here for 10 years and can only remember one power cut, which lasted for maybe 2 hours.

Cheers

Hello

The electricity supply is normally  very reliable but the weather isn't!!

During the colder months  we can get periods of very  heavy rain  e.g. (google Gota Fria in Costa Blanca)  This, like all weather is unpredictable and can cut off the supply for a couple of hours or more, sometimes it only affects small areas or in my case, a few nearby  urbanisations which if restored fairly quickly , in colder weather, won't defrost the freezer food.

Cheers

Hi Terry. Food in the freezer is fine for about 16 hours as long as the door is not constantly being opened, and about 4 hours for the fridge. Power cuts normally only last 30mins to an hour at the max, unless it something major. To test how long ours used to be off and if food needed to be thrown away. We placed ice cubes on a plate, in the freezer, if they had thawed then the food went in the bin. Hope this helps 😎

Hi, I,ve had a property in campo outside Villena over 15 yrs and initially expected the electric to be unstable. As I also have a Securitas alarm it warns us of power cuts and when restored and I, m pleased to say they have been very few. Only once has it been over 8hrs and as I then asked my keyholder to check the power in the house it was found the trip switch had tripped. So it wasn't a power cut but a cut inside which keyholder informed us of a severe storm before that time which we thought perhaps water had got into an outside light. It was reset and we,ve never had a problem since. We leave power on because we have outside lights on timers and as we usually return in 3 months (barring covid) we have food in our fridge/freezer. Hope this answers your query.

Regards

Pauline
