Where can I rent a car in April?

I am getting silly quotes for car rentals in April and May this year. Double the cost of last year. Can anyone suggest a private individual rather than the bigger companies, please?

While you'll certainly save money with a private individual, I'd never go that route. With a company, there are firmly set rules and expectations and if you pay for the extra insurance, you're golden in 99,9% of accidents or in case of any issues. With a private individual, the contract may not be well written - open to interpretation - and if you get in an accident, you may be quite surprised at the amount you suddenly owe.

Try Bangers in Guadamar. They are second hand but prices are amazing. Includes insurance and airport pick up and drop off.

Hi Steve,

Covid-19 has had a devastating impact on the hire car companies - Europcar went bust and other companies had to sell their stock to stay afloat. Combined with a worldwide shortage of electronic chips, adversely affecting car production, car hire prices have gone through the roof.

Friends of mine use Spain Car Hire, Alfie: (00 34) 603 149 972. He's based in La Marina and also offers airport pick up and drop off.
