This is an odd one. Our dogs raised us with barking late last night. We investigated to find two strange dogs in our very secure garden. One large and one small. We believe are perimeters are very secrure and fences too high to jump. We sent the intruders out through the gate who ran off but are interested to know has this happened to anyone else? Are the Spanish inclined to throw unwanted pets over a strangers garden? I will call the police if it happens again. Very unnerving.

We had a black kitten thrown over our (1.8m!) garden wall, so it does happen.  We kept her until someone responded to our FB post and adopted her.  I've also seen reports of foreigners returning to their home countries and leaving their pets behind 😔

If there are no signs on your boundaries of the stray dogs digging to get into your own, I think they may well have been dumped on you.  In my more generous moments, I'd like to think that you were 'selected' because you already had dogs and perhaps the owner could no longer afford to feed them - or they just couldn't be bothered to take them to a rescue 🤬

Why did you not wait until the morning to get hold of police or rescue centre or vet.

I can't quite believe how wicked your actions were. Poor dogs hope for their sake they haven't been in an accident and been injured.

Hopefully someone with compassion will find them, otherwise you've just perpetuated an already unsatisfactory situation for these dogs.

Totally irresponsible.

Thank you very much. it is disconcerting to find dogs in your garden, one large, and went with first instincts to get them out.

Probably wrong with hindsight. Don't need to be told that

But thank you again for your kind words. In no way would we ever intentionally be 'wicked' to any animal. We have two rescue dogs

This forum is quick to cast judgement. Often wrongly I've noticed

That's the problem you didn't think. You didn't give them a chance. Most of us have rescue dogs, myself included and what you did is at best cruel at worst wicked. Your concious not mine. Sorry if the truth hurts.

Hi Gina,

I don't agree with Lynne and Nick that the "forum" is quick to cast judgement, but I agree that there are one or two members who have that tendency.  I, too, have a rescue dog and I'd like to think that I would have kept the stray dogs until morning - BUT, none of us were there, we don't know where their property is and we only have a brief idea of their encounter from what they described, in which they included that they were "very" unnerved.

Kind regards,
Kim

Quite rightly your first concern must be for yourself and your own animals, no one can know if those dogs were carrying an illness that could have been passed on to your pets or yourself.

If someone can abandon the dogs like this, it's unlikely they would be up to date with their inoculations.

Hi Kim,

I agree none of us were there and none of us know the full circumstances of these people so I have to presume rightly or wrongly that they are grown ups with all their faculties.

The facts of what happened were written by themselves. They say they were unnerved by having 2 dogs dumped in their garden yet they managed to find the courage to go into their garden and kick the dogs out onto the street with, as you say, no regard to the safety of the dogs or traffic.

I am not in a position to pass judgement on anyone, I'm no keyboard warrior, I very rarely reply to posts, I read the post 3 times, couldn't quite believe what I was reading, before I felt the need to comment and I stand by my comments with no regrets.
