Does anyone know the best airline or best way to transport our dogs to Alicante. Ive had a look at a few and Iberia will transport from UK to Alicante but cannot transport back to the UK, British Airways cargo wants a grand each way, another cargo agency wants £1,400 for the round trip etc etc. Any help or advice would be gratefully received

Try Norwegian, as far as I know they only fly to London Gatwick and will only take four dogs on a flight. Don't know the price, but many Scandinavians bring their dogs and I believe the price is reasonable.

I've no idea of their prices, but I've seen good reports of:

http://petz2u.co.uk/

At the prices you've had so far, it would be cheaper to drive them yourself, possibly shortcut the driving by using the ferry to Bilbao/Santander.

We travel every year on Brittany Ferries with our dog in pet friendly cabin about £ 385.00 each way long drive from Bilbao but Molly is not stressed we stop twice but you need to book well in advance

As I understand it, dogs cannot be transported in the cabin, unless the airline agree to take them, and they are travelling between Schengen agreement countries, UK is not in the schengen agreement, but u can put your dog in the hold of many aircraft from Heathrow, but u would need to contact Heathrow and they  would arrange it. Vueling Iberia and Norwegian carry dogs in the cabin, but as above not from Britain. They have to be below 8kgs and fit into a given size pet carrier.I bring my dog frequently to Spain by Brittany ferries, pet friendly cabins or kennels, Portsmouth/Santander or Bilbao. 800kms drive across Spain.  I had considered once train from Liverpool street to Hoek of Holland then train to Amsterdam and Vueling from Amsterdam to Alicante, but by then I may have completed the sailing and journey across Spain.

Thanks for your help. I can actually take our mini dachshunds on Norwegian air for around £55 each way.
