Yes same here. I rang them to give my Sisters address in uk. They said I could do that. Can't change my address online so they are sending me a telephone  banking code. When that arrives ill phone back and they will change it.

Not ALL UK banks, that article is from 2020.

You are right, Darro. We  have been with RBS since we moved to Spain many years ago and have had no problems  "so far". Last week we even received their new style debit cards with an expiry date 06.26 !  We have no UK address by the way.  But, of course, tomorrow is another day !

I'm with Santander.  I use my parents as a 'care of' address.  Never had any problems in the 3 years I've been living in Spain.  When my debit card is due for renewal I have made sure the card is sent to them.  They then forward it on to me.

My understanding is legally, for many banks (not all), if you are a resident in another country, regardless of brexit, you cannot have a UK account.

I've used my sons UK address for 8 years on my Barclays account and never been questioned about it. They sometimes ask me to confirm my personal details on the Barclays app but otherwise all OK.

I don’t think this is necessarily so, as I stated earlier, I have asked both Nationwide and HSBC and they both confirmed that they will not be closing accounts. We do not have any UK address, of which they are both fully cognisant.

And they are both, to my knowledge, fully compliant with UK banking law.

I can only speak for Barclays, they closed my daughters account a while back because she is EU resident and does not have a UK address.

Hello

Yes there is another thread running on here  at the moment,  plus there has been many more since this began to happen, with various banks since. early last year.

If you have access to a  UK address, this can resolve the issue.

Cheers

Elinspain

They’re not accepting Uk address any more as they are checking it all out this time. It has specifically stated in their letter and email that you must live at the address provided 😢

Cheers

Joan

All UK Banks are closing accounts of UK account holders living in the EU as they can nolonger operate in the EU following Brexit. If you have relatives or friends who will allow you to use their address in the UK this could be an option to retain it. You may find the contents of this link informa...

Can you explain why mine is still open at Natwest then? They are well aware that I don't have a UK residence and send any papers to my Spanish address.
