On Saturday my husband was molested at bankinter cash machine his card was stolen and the thief was able to see the pin number when he crept up behind my husband it was so quick and he did not realise what was happening we contacted bankinter by phone 4 times trying to get the card stopped but they either put the phone down or disconnected the call until on the third try out us through to visa in some far off country after one hour of being on the phone were told the card would be stopped but it was not the thief cleared our account out and left us with 400 euro overdraft the bank have been unhelpful refuse to give us our money back even though we phoned again Saturday afternoon to be told the card had not been stopped bank now tell us we have to appeal to their fraud department and visa ourselves with no help from the bank. Their customer care us dreadful all they are interested in is taking your money so beware of you have your card stolen the bankinter bank do not look after their customers .

Sorry to hear of your experience. For future reference if you have your bank app on your phone. Go to settings, cards, choose your card, then block the card. This blocks the card immediately.

I'm so sorry that has happened to you. You must pursue it with visa and get your money returned. It might be easier in the long run to ask a Gestor to help you with it because of any language problems.

Thankyou I thought I might try citizens advice first if I have to instruct a solicitor then of course it's going to cost money we don't have right now but I will fight this to the end

Hello

So sorry  to read about your bad experience.   I am assuming the Bankinter Tel No you called  & had no help, was Customer service No.

I have found 2 different numbers Bankinter Responde Service --916578800 & also Bankinter Ombudsman --Jose Luis Gomez-Degano Tel. 914295661

If you dont already have them, these  Depts  could be of some help, but you might need help from a translator to call, I dont know. If someone is helping you, you can pass them on....

Wishing you some success as you pursue this.

Cheers

Thankyou these numbers are the ones the bank now say I should try explain again everything that has happened and hope they will reconsider but they say it highly unlikely we will get anywhere but I make the phone calls on Monday

Have you reported the theft to the police? If not, do so immediately as your card issuer will expect you to do so before they deal with any claim. It is the National Police who deal with this type of crime. You need to make an appointment and it is best to take someone along to the appointment with you who can speak Spanish, if you don't. It is also a good idea to write out a statement in advance of your appointment of what happened (in Spanish) giving date, time and description of the thief. This will avoid wasting your time at the police station and the police will be very appreciative. I have had experience of this type of crime when I had my wallet stolen last year.

Most ATMs have in built cameras and the thief may have been caught on it! The police will ask the bank for footage.

Best wishes going forward.

Thankyou yes got denuncia all documentation given to bank even reference numbers for the telephone calls I made to the bank gave statement to bank on times I telephoned what was said but they say not paying out because it's our fault the thief got the card and managed to obtain pin number which we do not know how other than before husband realised he crept up on him he must have seen but we are so careful when using machine there was no one near there when husband started to use it the thief appeared out of nowhere and within minutes it was over bankinter told us they did not have a camera then when they refused repayment said they did have camera and police had requested footage so bank change their story and you don't know what the truth is

Fight, fight and fight again. The bank will capitulate if you put enough pressure on them.
