Unlawful Withdrawals From Your Spanish Bank Accounts

I understand the UK rules and the reasons behind it and know people in the UK who it has happened to. I had it once from a bad tenant whose parents were solicitors!

This is why I started the post as in everything, Chinese whispers can start all sorts of rumours.

I was just hoping that somebody came forward because I'm reluctant to put a considerable amount of money just to keep in my Spanish bank account. I say this because I pay money in every month but wanted to make sure that I have everything in place for my/our residency application.........belt and braces shall we say.

I get that.......hopefully nobody comes forward!

As I've explained in your other post on this subject...I think you have probably overheard someone in the pub talking about nonsense. 

This is a scaremongering post with no evidential links to news stories or anything official. 

I hope the mods delete this.

A totally unnecessary and unhelpful post. 

I don't see why the question should not be asked. As the OP said no one comes forward so nothing to worry about and maybe someone learnt about non residents tax 

The reason why I think that the original post was scaremongering was that it implied that the Spanish government was plundering bank accounts.

When I've had money taken out of my bank account (with permission) to pay my annual taxes there was an explanation within the bank app.

There was bar chitchat here in Benidorm recently when drinkers were "hoping the government didn't plunder their bank accounts like they did in Cyprus some years ago" to get money into government coffers. 

I suspect that probably what the OP has picked up on from his mates.

My original post is correct and what I am asking.  If you read, you will see that I am asking a question and clearly not trying to scare anyone. I make this point very clear in this thread and others. I'm not saying it has happened, will happen or might happen........its a question to the forum to see if anybody has had this happen to them. I'm fully aware of rumours and how they start.........hence this topic.

I asked "unlawful" because there would be no point in creating a post for "lawful" because who really cares about that.

Thanks for the clarification, the answer then is no unlawful taking of money from accounts, only lawful taking of money from those acting illegally.
