Hi, I'm looking for someone who can help me get a Humax 1000s recorder box installed and running.  We already have a 1 metre dish and a simple satellite decoder but have been told we may need a bigger dish and a second cable run into the house to use with our Humax box. We don't have the internet.

Any recommendations. Thanks in advance. Brenda

I think you may need a larger disc with a twin lnb. The Humax should just be a case of connecting and plugging in, it will tune itself. You could try it with your existing dish first. The Humax does have two dish inputs that allow you to watch one channel and record another hence the two inputs

Actually, with just once cable connected the Humax Freesat boxes will record two channels and watch a third at the same time... but only as long as all channels are on the same frequency group, and two channels are on the same frequency...but getting the right combo of channels can be tricky.. eg certain BBC1 regions, BBC 2 SD, certain ITV1 SD regions  c4 and five are all on horizontal low frequencies allowing you do to three things with just one cable...

With two cables you can do three things, but for channels on two separate frequency groups, and two on the same frequency.

But for good stable reception, a larger dish would be required...with at least a twin LNB (or go for a quad, and run a third cable and use your current receiver in another location as well)
