Thanks Richard, I was thinking of this , I reckon wheel weight might be 1 ton, any idea what ply I should use and maybe a trip to Leroy Merlins ?

Hi Jacqui, Leroy Merlin La Zenia also have a builders merchants close by who may well have a steel equivalent of what you already have, alternatively they may have the steel plate sized to your requirements.

Worth noting that if your original cover has holes or vents in it then whatever you replace it with will need to be modified as similar.

Thanks Les, I was thinking more of something temporary to protect drain cover when driving in or out .

Ahhhh ok Jacquie, I see the reason now. You only wish to bridge across the existing drain in a temporary measure. Due to the weight I  would definitely recommend steel plate .
