Hi all,

Thanks for the info provided in this thread.

I am currently in Algorfa with no transport. Please can anyone point me in the right direction for somewhere that I can get the test done without being stung for the cost of the test AND a huge taxi fee? :-D

Many thanks.

Rachel

Yes, thank you. I found some clearer guidance after I posted this.

I should have worded my post better too because I was actually looking for guidance on where to get the test done!

I've now found a clinic in Almoradi which can do what needs to be done.

Thank you!

Sorry IanW

I have to disagree with you, there have been endless posts on this topic of Covid testing requirements for travel on this site, as many still thinks they have to pay for the PCR test, if anyone is still unsure it is very clear on the Gov.U.K. Site, I have directed several friends and neighbors to...

... Julian Rodrigues at El Raso pharmacy who does need your passport and will present you with you result in hard copy form as a certificate within 2 hrs.

And of course you still have to order and pay for your quarantine PCR travel package for day 2 and 8, on the gov.gov U.K. website now the cheapest is now down to £175

My daughter forgot her passport and could not have the test until she had her passport.

Grant Shapes UK transport minister has said on the news this morning " it is PREFERRED that returning to the UK travelers have a PCR test, as this result carries more information for the Genome Labs to track for new variants".

As we all should know that an Antigen test is much cheaper and still will be accepted on return to the UK. Asked why it is not mandatory to have a PCR test he said the majority of travelers are having them anyway.

We have recently traveled back on an IMED Antigen test, no issues. Enjoy your holidays and hope this gives you a little more to spend on yourselves......

That's correct my daughter had no issues at all with the antigen test.

Says everything you need to know about Grant Shapps ie worst transport minister ever and totally out of his depth since this

ridiculous traffic light system was implemented.

Just returned from Santa Pola. What a pain in the backside the whole process was!!  Not going back to Spain until COVID is all over.

PCR is not required, just Antigen. I went to IMED in Elche. Booked a test online. Test took about 20 seconds, results in less than an hour emailed.

PCR is ridiculously priced and people cannot be expected to shell out for this a s it is not an essential requirement.

Good luck one and all.

So what is your problem? If you read all the god knows how many posts on here about what you need for UK to Spain and Spain to UK you would know that an antigen NOT pcr is what you need to go to UK. No use shouting about it yes I know it changes now and then but as soon as it does someone puts it on here.

Just checked on the UK GOV website and a Lateral flow test is acceptable

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-testing-for-people-travelling-to-england#test-providers-and-type-of-test

Is there a Chemist on the Urb where I can get a test?

Regards

Steve

Hi Steve, to quote Grant Shapps its ADVISABLE to take a PCR test, when quizzed why, he said it carried vital information on variant strains of covid. Again when quizzed due the reduced cost of an accepted ANTIGEN test why would holiday makers waste valuable money on a PCR test. His answer was the majority of people returning to the UK are using a PCR test. We did not on returning at the  beginning of the month we had the ANTIGEN test at 40 Euros each from an IMED center in Toeluda. We were in & out in 5 mins, booked a time on line and whilst driving back to Orba got the result by text. No trouble at the airport Spain or the UK and entering Alicante there are bill boards offering all the required test there, but not advising the price of these tests.
