Hi,

Is the wearing of a face mask law in Spain still & what restrictions on movement are applicable. We have booked to come over in September & wouldn’t want to be breaking any laws. We are based on the Urbanisation La Marina.

thanks

Hi,

There are no restrictions on movement in Spain now but things could change within hours if the Spanish government decides to restrict any movement.

It is still mandatory to wear masks when entering shops, supermarkets, bars, restaurants and Farmacia. You can remove your mask once you are seated in a bar or restaurant.

Masks are only required outside if you are in a crowded area and can't maintain the social distancing.

Always have a face mask available when you are out....just in case.

The curfew is still on and it's between 1am and 6am that you must be indoors.

Been to La Zenia Boulevard today first time for a few weeks, surprised to see hardly anyone wearing a mask while walking around, compared to the last time we went when everyone was wearing a mask.

In most areas in Benidorm, town centre or outskirts the mask wearing is about 50/50.

Surprisingly it doesn't make a difference either on any age group young, old or mixed groups it's still a 50/50 division.

Mask wearing is dying a death, saw family of 5 walk into a cafe last week none of them was wearing a mask, we were sitting on the terrace the family went inside the cafe, staff did not bat an eyelid.

Hi Feathe1 and welcome to the forum,

Yep, face masks are still mandatory in Spain in indoor locations, but only outdoors if you can't maintain 1.5m social distance, e.g. you'd need to wear one if walking around a street market.  Hand gel is still supplied on entry to shops and restaurants - and some restaurants take your temperature on entry as well, e.g. Japones on La Marina Commercial Centre.  We went to Zenia Boulevard and Habeneras shopping centre last week and, on the whole, everyone was respecting the face masks law, even walking along the malls.  Unfortunately, you always get a few who think the laws don't apply to them.  Also, if you're driving a vehicle and your passengers are not from the same household, you have to wear masks in the car too - worth having them close to hand anyway, in case you get pulled over at a random police check.

We're having a scorcher of a summer this year - hope it will be more comfortable for you by September.  Enjoy!

Kind regards,

Kim

Many thanks Kim, I was concerned that we’d have to wear them everywhere in the heat! that puts my mind at rest 😊

Thanks, Lynn
