We are currently traveling from Spain to the UK. I seem to recall Ray had advised someone of a Govenrment form which needs to be filled out prior to arriving there although I cant find it on the forum. Is this correct? Thanks.

Hi LynneandNick

There is a compulsory form you need to complete within the last 48 hrs before to are back in the UK. This is so whatever your means of travel.

The details and form are on the gov.uk website: https://www.gov.uk/uk-border-control

It’s straightforward & includes where you have been & where in the uk you will be plus another person to contact. Standard track & trace items.

You can either print off or, handily, keep the details on your phone. I did the latter and all ok when I flew to the uk earlier this week. There were several travellers scrambling to complete at the last minute as they approached border control staff or were led to one side to sort. Thus worth sorting in advance as long as within the 48 hr ‘window’.

Safe journey,

Peter

Hi,

flew back with my wife on Thursday evening into Luton from Alicante,  completed the form on line and had a copy on my phone. Never asked for it by anyone! However best to complete the form just in case as maybe Luton was the exception.

Rgds,

Aitch.

If you are not back by midnight tonight it is likely you will have to quarantine for 14 days.

Yes, there have been reports of border control not checking. In contrast, some uk airports had queues of over hour with people belatedly having to complete the forms. On the flight I was on many of the Spanish travellers didn’t seem to be aware of the requirement.

In any case, now the news of the return of 14 day quarantine. That’s going to cause some issues especially if needing to get back to work & if cannot work at home........

If you have already  completed the form online then all your details have already been collected whether or not you are also  asked at airport for them.

Yes, I assumed that the airport check would be to make sure that a form had been filled out. The lack of a check at Luton means that anyone who has not filled out a form leaves a gap in any tracking process should someone from the flight tun out to have the virus.

I only found out about needing to fill in a form by a posting on this forum, we had nothing from Ryanair to say we had to complete a UK health form. There would be a lot of people on the flight who did not know and therefore did not fill out a form. Why Luton airport allowed people in without checking I don't know.

We flew back to Manchester last week and prior to queuing at Passport Control everybody was asked if they had completed the form. Those who hadn’t were filtered into another queue, where officials showed everybody how to download the form and complete it there & then. These people were then allowed through, and caught up with others in the baggage hall
