Santander-Logroño-Zaragoza-Teruel-Valencia-AP-7 south.

Avoids Madrid and roads pretty good.

We travel the route each year and prefer it over the route via Madrid, others may differ. Enjoy your trip.

8 to 10 hours approximately, but you’ll need to do a few stops both for the dogs and yourselves.

Did that route yesterday went via Madrid but on the outer ring road and paid 2 euro toll on R3. Traffic was very light and journey time with a petrol stop and a comfort break was just under 8. hours

If you put your arrival time in the attached link then the route planner will give you a fully timed route. This is particularly good for booking hotels if you arrive in the afternoon.

You can do the route in 8 hours but I would advise having plenty of stops, especially with animals. Plan for around 10 hours and you won't be too far out

Thanks all. Have it  now. May even stop over  as days of driving for that long  are  no longer any fun.

It is not like England journey is all motorway and mostly very light traffic with cruise control and an audiobook it is very easy compared to our previoys journeys through France. We have friends with a caravan who do an overnight stop I can get you the details of the hotel they use if that will help.
