No hidden extras car hire

Those teaser rates are just that - teasing you in with unbelievable prices. From experience, I've decided life is too short to worry about getting rock bottom prices that come with strings attached so now I pay total comfort insurance to the rental company when I book - this has given me much better service and total piece of mind. Express service both getting the car and leaving it back, no blocked amount on my card except for the petrol which is lifted immediately the car is returned. I left a car back yesterday and the girl just took the keys with a smile and said thank you. There was a queue of people returning cars waiting for them to be checked over and some people were getting anxious thar they would miss their flight it was taking so long. A few people gave us nasty looks when we just drove up, gave the keys in and walked to the terminal. In my book, thats worth a few euros!

I've been using Record Go, no complaints at all (so far!). The petrol deposit was back in my account by the time I walked from the car park to the terminal building last night! Excellent car, they didn't even want to check that I'd refilled the tank, they took my word for it (but I always leave the receipt on the car seat as proof, if needed). Great service from them. 

I don't understand why you don't get full to full petrol ?? Just fill up on way back ! Pay for what you've used And just say no to their insurance and buy excess insurance in UK ! I've been using hire cars from doyouspain for years and never had any problems 

Edirentacar.com  Highly recommended, no hidden extras, no fuel charges and no charges for child seats either.  Family run business, well established and no hanging around at the airport either.  We have used them for years and everyone we have recommended them to has been very happy with them.

Thanks everyone for the input. I looked at the reviews for Record Go and unfortunately there are literally dozens of scathing reviews, with many complaining sbout being scammed for non existent damage and being pressured to take out their full insurance or pay over €1000 up front. It also seems that hardly any companies recognise excess insurance taken out in the UK and again want up front payment unless you take out their own very expensive insurance. Same story for fuel - just about every company has a full-empty policy. Lara Cars want €85 up front for fuel, even though I never use anywhere near a full tank. HOWEVER.. Edi rentacar has very good reviews and doesn't appear to employ any of these underhand practices. Thanks Dave for the tip - that's where I'll be heading.

Glad you've got sorted, hope it works out OK. As I said previously, I've never had a problem with RecordGo. I don't regard their full insurance as a hidden extra as it's spelt out clearly at the time of booking what's covered and what isn't. I can only speak as I find, but of course everyone has their own experience.  Happy and safe driving! 

Thanks again for everyone's input. Edi Rentacar have replied with a very reasonable price for my next trip in July, with no fuel charge (just bring the car back with same fuel level as on collection), full insurance included for 2 drivers, and they don't even block your credit card for the insurance excess during the hire period. Will let you know how I find them. Regards.  Lee.
