Hi wondered if anyone has been through the Dartford crossing, we are going to UK for a couple of months in our Spanish registered motor home, and my wife & Myself both have Spanish driving licences,

I was wondering not being an English vehicle, if we still had to pay the toll, each way,

Thanks for any help,

Brian

The Dartford tunnel is free between 10pm and 6am I think, tolls apply outside those times. How they would find you to fine you for non payment is another thing

As Snoxell says it is still payable except between the hours of 10pm-6am. It has to be paid online, either before you travel or by midnight the day after travel, £2.50 each way.

You are still liable for the toll even in a foreign vehicle

And don't forget that, if you are going through one of the congestion zones in or near London, you must register your foreign vehicle beforehand or you could be fined even if your vehicle is compliant.

Someone elsewhere posted their Spanish car was compliant but they received a 200 pound fine for not registering it beforehand.

UK and Spain share vehicle ownership with each other.

You register with Transport for London at this link https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/compliance-registration/register-a-foreign-vehicle

Won't be touching London or any big cities, as in motorhome ant just motorways, and A roads,

Brian

Hi.

Yes, you are still liable for the toll.

We took our Spanish registered car to the UK last year and went over the Dartford crossing on our return journey. We tried to pay the toll on line but the system wouldn't recognise our registration number so we just thought, sod it, it's only a couple of quid and can they find us in Spain anyway.

You know what? They did. A German company found us and issued a £129 fine.

Save yourself a future fine and, if you can't pay it on line, phone them and pay that way.

Better still, go clockwise round the M25 if you're going from Folkestone.

Hi Rob60

Thanks for for your reply,

I think you have answered the question for me, better to pay a fiver than hope you don't get a nasty surprise through the letter box,
