Hi all,

We are interested in viewing a few properties for a holiday home in urbanisation La Marina Del Palmeral and El oasis La marina, Is the main costal road N-332 very close to the above areas and noisy?

What is La marina like to live in?

Thanks in advance.

Di.

The N332 is a nightmare in the summer bumper to bumper in places, loads of lovely emissions to breathe in.

We have house in la marina higher up in the urb not down at n332 level. While I agree busy in summer (show me a main rd that isnt) it's a lovely place to have a home. Always cafe and restaurants all year. Some have gone recently due to covid but still a lot open. We love the place and we looked at many others before buying our first one there .. I would reccomend buy higher up urb not down hill as when get heavy rain can be a problem for some.

Hello Di and welcome to the forum,

My in-laws lived on La Marina for almost 20 years and loved it.  We used to visit 2 or 3 times a year and I can honestly say that I've never had a concern about noise or pollution from the N332, certainly not at La Marina.  We have friends that live in the campo, about 700m from "Nancy's" roundabout and I've never heard traffic noise from the N332 at their house either.

We've lived in Spain for almost 6 years and find that, while traffic can be heavy in the summer (pre-Covid!), out of season the bottlenecks on the N332 occur at the Habeneras junction in Torrevieja, and then each of the junctions along the Orihuela Costa, up to and including the junction for Zenia Boulevard.

By the way, the noise from acoustic vibration rises up and out from its source (think of a cone shape, where the tip of the cone would sit on the N332), so if residents on higher parts of the urb are saying they don't have a noise problem, you shouldn't experience it on the lower roads either.  However, I do agree that the lower road, which runs out to the commercial centre that borders the N332, does have a problem with flooding when it rains heavily.  Even then, you wouldn't be prevented from reaching the urb, because you can enter from the previous junction, taking you in at the top end of the urb.

El Oasis is one of the more recent developments on the other side of the urb, which is closer to the CV-860 that runs from San Fulgencio to Elche, and that's a good couple of miles from the N332.  The only slight downside I can think of is that you may not be walking distance to local shops - I think the area known as "Consum square" is probably the closest to El Oasis, but no more than 5 minutes in a car and still close enough for a stroll to bars and restaurants in the evening - when you're not carrying bags of shopping.

Although we live in Formentera and the in-laws passed away several years ago, we still visit La Marina urb for a couple of our favourite restaurants: "The Grill House" for great steaks and atmosphere, and "Curry Mahal" for the best Chicken Pasanda, both in the "Grey area" 😋  And, of course, you're only a 5-10 minutes drive to the wonderful beach at La Marina village.

Kind regards,

Kim

The road you are talking about that floods at bottom of Urbanization has been worked on recently to negate heavy rains. So far it has worked but then we haven't had a gota fria to test it properly but it has to be an improvement. We live 50 yards from bottom of the urb and that road and we never hear road noise from main road n332. Great place to live and very quiet.

We live in the area you are thinking of and it very peaceful. We are at the opposite end of the urbanization  to the N332 and very close to the CV 860 to Elche. We have no flooding in this area, not even in a gota fria.

We are within walking distance of doctors, townhall, tourist information, supermarket and various bars and restaurants. The Consum and grey areas  are also walkable if you feel energetic.

We love it here as it within reach of everything within a few minutes if you have a car. To be honest there are not many areas in this part of Costa Blanca I could live comfortably without a car. That is only my opinion of course.

That's good to know Yogited 👍  We've only seen the bottom road closed by the police about 3 times, but hopefully the works you mention have resolved the drainage.  Not a major problem for us, as once you know your way around the urb, there are always alternatives.

Do you know whether they've permanently closed the "music notes" road, now that the roundabout and pathways have been completed on the CV-860?

Kind regards,

Kim
