What about your own “biased and unrepresentative views”?
I am so sorry that my request for information has stirred so many emotions and strong opinions. We are not going into this as first timers nor without some hard won experience of living in southern Europe for 17 years. I doubt the Spanish administration is any worse than some of the experiences we have had in Italy. Nevertheless, we have survived and prospered by trying to follow the rules and fit into society. Live and let live. We look forward to visiting next week and making up our mind based on what we see.
Thanks to everyone.

I'm not interested in you, your life, your sob story , nothing , I wish I had a button like on my phone where I could block you and not look at your nasty comments all the time ! Believe me I wouldn't be the only one on here!! , so please dont reply back to me cos you will be ignored
Hi, I think location is very important, we have looked at Fincas which are in the middle of nowhere ( very isolated), or some other urbanization’s with no amenities nearby and we discovered La Marina Urbanizacion and we have all the amenities in walking distance which we wanted ( specially when you are over 60 and might not be able to drive in a few years..). We moved into our new home in April and like it a lot. Good Restaurants and good Entertainment in some Pubs, also the beach is beautiful and not too busy. The great thing is that it is international, not just Brits ( not 95%), we met People from Sweden, Island, Norway or like me from Germany. Stay here for a while before you decide 😊👍

Well said...
RayD...........perhaps you don't mean to come across as a bitter man to La Marina based on your own personal experiences but you do. I'm sure there are lots of good and bad points where you live. Its unfortunate that your wife got ripped off due to the actions of a low life but this can, and does happen everywhere.
Yes LM is full of expats (mostly Brits) but some people would see this as a bit of security when first moving abroad. It's easier when going to bars and restaurants and of course dealing with people and services. Perhaps this was one of the reasons your wife moved there originally?
Some people do move on once they have built their confidence and progressed with the language barrier.
Anyway........ we are all different..........just be happy people..............LIFE is a very short adventure.

Hi Ian,
I can't understand quite how all the totally negative comments have come from. I have lived in the Oasis part of the Urbanisation for over 3 years in a predominantly Spanish community. The urbanisation is almost entirely houses of various sizes and types with very few apartments. The one thing you will find is that it is a very friendly place and people talk to each other. You will only discover that if you spend a little time there and keep an open mind. There is a mix of nationalities which is reflected in the range of bars and restaurants available.
Wishing you all the best, whatever you decide.
Regards
Iain
Hi
And welcome. Are you buying up in the urb, in the village or down by the beach in El Pinet? Either way it is a great place to live with all the amenities and brilliant beaches.
Cheers,
Leo
