Getting rid of a wasps nest
Hi. We have a wasps nest on the outside of our house. Does anyone know of a pest controller who can remove it for us? I would do it myself, but they seem very angry and I've already been stung once.

Also, have a look above search "wasps".

You should remember that wasps are not the pest which they are being accused of. Of course one must take care when around their nest, but they are highly valuable in dealing with green fly and white fly. Please try and move the nest to a safe place away from your personal space, and avoid destruction. Sorry to hear of your having been stung, but care is of the essence.
We had a number of wasps nests in the roof of our front porch, which is one of our our primary shaded seating areas. Not only were they a pest but also irritating and annoying when trying to relax or eat and they were ALWAYS angry. In fact I think angry is the only emotion a wasp knows.
I got rid of them all, at no minor risk to my own welfare, for a better quality of life. I would certainly not suggest anyone tries to 'move the nest' to a safe place or otherwise. That is utter lunacy.
I don't doubt that every living thing has a purpose in Mother Nature's grand scheme, but give me green and white fly over a wasp any day of the week.
Having tried numerous insecticides I found Preben Evispas from Leroy Merlin the most effective. Basically death immediately on contact. Now completely eradicated and we can eat in peace.
Good luck
By they way, a peat in entomology is defined as:
any organism that causes annoyance or injury to human beings, human possessions, or human interests.
I think that covers wasps quite clearly.

Move a wasps nest !!! Good luck with that then , apart from being attacked by dozens of angry bees a wasps nest is bonded to whatever surface they choose to build on.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I certainly seem to have stirred up a hornets nest with this thread! I must admit, having been stung the moment I opened a window (it's still sore now), I most certainly regard wasps as "pests", and would prefer greenfly any day of the week! Accordingly I have managed to get rid of the nest. Moving it carefully was an interesting suggestion, but not one I was prepared to risk, with dozens of angry wasps fiercely protecting it. So with the aid of strong wasp killer spray and a very long stick, I managed to knock it down and destroy it. Touch wood, the wasps haven't returned, and good riddance to them !
