I am looking for some advice and hope someone can help, I have a complaint to make about a local business, basically I have paid in full for a service and a month later the service is incomplete, odviously I cannot go into detail of who and what the company does but having been here for only two months in spain is there a a route I can take, I have countlessly  phoned visited the company but I am basically getting fobbed off and need outside guidance on how to deal with this within the rules and laws

Many thanks david

There is a thing called a "libro de reclamaciones" (complaints book) and all businesses in Spain have to have one and present it when required by law. Most companies will try and avoid a entry being put into this book as they are followed up (so i've heard), so they may offer to solve your problem if you ask for it.

If you have paid for something and not received it then filling in a compliant is the first thing i would do. In addition, and depending on how serious it is, speak to your lawyer.

I agree with Roach. Asking for a 'Hoja De Reclamación' (a leaf out of the book) is often enough to spur a business into action.

If they can't, or won't, do so, then there is an office in Torrevieja of 'Attención Al Consumidor' - the Spanish version of Trading Standards - where you can denounce the business. Sometimes the threat of doing that is enough!

Geoff.

Do you have any recipe or invoice to show that you paid for something? This is important.

If you have nothing I will connect the recording voice on the phone to have a price you paid them (It is legal to record a conversation if you are speaking). Then I would speak with them nice so they are not in defence position.

After that you can complain harder.
