I'm with you, Syd, but I don't forgive it. I've got my own black list of people who don't say please or thanks, and don't respond to any of their posts.

Pete, I used to frequent one of the Torre forums, which seems to be mainly about a couple of people doing posts just for the sake of it. I once suggested an update to their list of markets in the Southern Costa Blanca, giving details about Callosa de Segura and Catral, among others. This person then asked if they were in the Costa Blanca. I said that they were, and as she'd been here for years, she really should get out more. I promptly got banned!
I think this forum, like the old La Marina forum, has the right balance. And of course, if any of us don't like what's been said in a post, we can just report it to Jan.

I agree with you Jim, it doesn't hurt to type in a thank you, I also think that like the old La Marina Forum, that this site is very helpful and informative one. I am also on the Talk Quesada forum, which is also very good, however you do get certain members responding in a negative way just to stir up an argument. I feel that by doing this they are distracting everyone from the original enquiry which is not at all helpful to any one. The one thing I do miss from the old site is the joke page, but after telling you (Jim) about this, and your reply I saw exactly what you were on about. Good work from all at the Admin and also from people like yourself Jim, who can keep us all informed and up to date with all enquiries that are relevant to property owners in Spain.

Nice one, Pete!
Perhaps if between us we get the girls to have a go at us two, then they might forget their differences and join forces in attacking the guys. Mind you, I think we'd come off worse.

I had a few spare minutes so I decided to do a check on the courtesy of members who ask questions.
I'm pleased to say that the majority (72% of a sample of 123) either said thanks and/or clicked on This is helpful.

I'm sad to say that 28% of those asking questions didn't even respond, let alone say thanks or click the button.
I'm always willing to try and help, but I'm not going to waste time trying to help people who in my opinion are deficient in good manners, so I've created for myself a personal black list.
I'm definitely not trying to deter people from posting questions, but please, please, at least acknowledge any help you are offered.
Rant over!
I agree to many people around these days with a lack of manners..... hope I'm not on your list :-)

Well this topic has had over 200 views, let's hope it has a positive effect. However I doubt it. I think some people join these forums with absolutely no intent to learn, to help, advise, or pass on information gleaned, but simply to be disruptive. Maybe a case of one warning then banning these people for circa 3 months.

Sorry Jim, I am probably one of the culprits, I honestly did not realize to press the thanks icon, as not that conversant with the internet. Also back in the UK most of the time and do not open the replies to any of the questions (only one) that I posted as busy working away most of the time.
Forum is great for information, keep up all the posts.

Don't worry, Martin, you're not on my blacklist.
I prefer it when people use the 'This is helpful' button, rather than doing a reply to say thanks. If they do a reply, I get an email notification of that, then I go and look at the reply. If it's just saying thanks or similar, then I've effectively wasted the time taken in looking at it.
As an aside, I've got a number of PMs to which I've not yet replied., and ask the senders to bear with me - been very busy, then away a few days, plus another busy spell tomorrow onwards. Please bear with me - I'm not ignoring you and will reply when I've time.
To old friends and new - wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe, healthy and happy New Year xxx
(Being courteous ....!)

I like it!
And all the best to you too, Gurminder and Manjit, and to everyone else as well.
Just got back home from a six and a half hour trip to Elche hospital, and Margaret's had the best Christmas present she could wish for. One of her tumours has disappeared, and the other two haven't increased in size.
