I had a few spare minutes so I decided to do a check on the courtesy of members who ask questions.

I'm pleased to say that the majority (72% of a sample of 123) either said thanks and/or clicked on This is helpful.

I'm sad to say that 28% of those asking questions didn't even respond, let alone say thanks or click the button.

I'm always willing to try and help, but I'm not going to waste time trying to help people who in my opinion are deficient in good manners, so I've created for myself a personal black list.

I'm definitely not trying to deter people from posting questions, but please, please, at least acknowledge any help you are offered.

Rant over!

Totally agree with you Jim, so bad manners and especially when people make an appointment and then don't turn up, makes me fume, had people looking to rent my apartment and wrote to me several times, were suposed to come and look at it so I put everyone else off because I promised theses people they could have it, didn't turn up, absolutely fuming . .Thanks to them I decided not to rent it out and  just use it as our holiday home

Thank you Jim

As a newbie to the forum I agree with you

I have posted a few questions and have attempted to stimulate conversation around some topics in an attempt to gain information from various perspectives in order to help me make an informed decision

On one occasion a reply I was given felt like a telling off ,,,, it feels like some of the people who respond are jaded with newbies It is so refreshing to find your posts ,,, thank you for your understanding

Ps I did send a private message to the person concerned ( a moderator ) and apologised if I had annoyed him with my naive questions maybe he was having a bad day ,,,

Have a great day 🌹🌸🌺

Thanks to both responders.

Pete - I totally agree with what you say. I think possibly (hopefully?) the reason people don't know that a question has already been posed and answered is that the forum search facility can be confusing.

I've said previously that search requires you to enter a sub-forum for that search. Originally, I was using Google search and confining the search to this site, but then I found out by trial and error that if you just enter 'a' in the location box, you can do a global search of the forum. Most people won't know that.

Hopefully Jan or Alex may take note, and add 'All the forum' to the list of drop-down locations in the search facility.

If not, I'll post my suggestions in the Your suggestions... sub-forum at some point.

Also, some of us are just not so good on the technical side of things.

Hope my thank yous were seen by those concerned.  I find the forums very interesting and informative.

Cheers all

Sorry if I've inadvertently not pressed a helpful button.  I've only occasionally posted but never got any replies myself  but I don't think I've seen a helpful button to press.  Where is it on the screen please xx Martmat2

Well Jim another helpful tip....I didn't know you could look 'anywhere,if putting that in the location ...I'm still a bit green on this site.  Consequently I have posted the same question twice or two different sub menu's (whoops!) as wasn't sure where to post it.  Now I will look on Anywhere in location.  I have been compiling a file on SPAIN with all the useful advice, tips and telephone nos. we may need, from you all, for our first property purchase abroad.  So a big THANK YOU to everyone.  And yes i  do reply or click helpful, even though it may be a few days later as I do not look on here every day.  So please dont be put off by a few 'forgetful' people .   Your have been invaluable to us. And who knows in the future I may have enough knowledge of the La Mata area to be helpful to someone else! Ha ha 😇  My thanks again.

I'm probably repeating what I've already said, but I often find it more effective to use Google to search the forum, putting the following into the search box - obviously, replace "search term" with whatever you're looking for:

"search term" site:costablancaforum.com

Jim, you are so correct, sadly manners seem to be lacking a lot these days.

As I often say to people, especially when they are rude.

" Manners cost nothing, but they mean so much".

Thank you for all your expert advise on so many subjects, that I have read on this forum. You are most informative and have helped me immensely with your knowledge.
