Hi Everyone,

I am a Senior Environmental Enforcement Officer for Bath & North East Somerset Council with over 13 years experience of tracking down and prosecuting Fly Tippers.

I am very interested in moving to the area of La Marina and would love to explore the possibility of working with the local authority in doing something very similar there.

I really don’t know if there is such enforcement in the area or where to start investigating this or whom to speak to. I would be very grateful if anyone has any contacts or advice for me?

Thanks so much in advance,

Spencer

Hello and welcome to the forum,

I think you may have your work cut out on this one?

Employment is difficult enough for the Spainish so unless you speak it fluently then it’s probably a non starter unfortunately.

Also I would say it’s probably the local police who would deal with fly tipping incidents and they are certainly more of them in the countryside in spain unfortunately but again Iam guessing because of lack of funding etc.

Rubbish/ skips are a lot easier and cheaper to deal with in spain Then Uk so again I think it shows how hard up the Spainish are ?

Sorry to put a dampener on your ideas but you never know a door may open for you somewhere? Good luck anyway!

When you are long enough in Spain you will find so many things to be improved or abolished for a modern educated community, but nobody wanting to improve or even change the actual situation, and you will find yourself like a preacher in the desert. Sorry, but wait and see.

Hi and again welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately I can only echo what others have said which can feel sole destroying when you get your hope's up for something.

It's even more difficult due to this bloody Covid and only going to get worse I think. Dont give up though.......keep the dreams going.

Regards

Part of the problem of flytipping here, although it’s mainly rubbish dumped beside the refuse skips, especially in rural areas, is the sheer difficulty of accessing the local municipal recycling centres. Certainly in our area, even before the Covid problems, the site was only open for about three hours at different times and not every day. Now it is virtually impossible to access except by specific appointment through the local Ajuntamiento and from what I hear, an appointment is likely to be in two weeks time!

I fear that unfortunately what others have said is true, such a sophisticated level of dealing with the problem is unknown, it would be down to the local Police who have neither the manpower nor the funds.
