Lexi, i am nevertheless sorry to hear of your circumstances. Reflecting on this, the only thing i can think of is that if you own a property your bank might advance cash against it with security and repayment of the loan when sold. If you are a property owner why not make an appointment to see your bank manager? If they can't help with a loan they might be able to point you in the right direction.

Thank you, but I am not interested in €3000. I don't have the money to pay for that. I am a pensioner and my pension has to keep both of us and pay for everything. I can obtain the service I want in South Africa for under £200!
When you can offer me something for €1000 or under, I would be very interested....

Tell me about it, I am from S A also and I know the they are not crazy as here in Spain. How can a pensioner afford that kind of money. Very disturbing. Hope you find something reasonable.

It doesn't matter where you are from! If you move to a foreign country you inherit their traditions, their way of life and of course their cost of living. And their cost of dying too.
I never understand why people move countries and then complain about everything they don't like about their new country!

Hi Lexi, I was reading your post and the replies on funeral costs, so I checked on the TalkQuesada forum to see if there was any advice to be found there. If you type in Wills and Funerals, then search it will take you to various posts on that topic. That was the good news, the bad news is, that it is more expensive to die in Spain than it is to live, figures of 5000 Euros were bandied about, then there was talk of the added expense of Wills and Inheritance taxes, (again not cheap). Some companies were named to sort out a funeral plan, Iberian, Avalon and Golden Leaves, maybe worth going on line and having a chat with them about it. Alternatively perhaps follow the advice given by jimtaylor and consider donating your bodies to scientific research could be the only answer if your limited fund wise. Normally I would say good luck in your search, but bearing in mind the topic we are discussing probably not the best term too use,
Thanks for your help......I'm still looking around. I'll let you know if anything jumps out at me.
Cheers.

Hi Lexi, don't know if you have sorted anything out regarding funeral services yet, but another company name appeared on the Talk Quesada forum, Generali Insurance. Poster claims that it only costs them 30 euros per month for 2 people. Another one possibly worth looking at.
There is an independent family run Funeral Directors named Pompas Funebras Samper SL in Pilar de La Horadada that may be able to help as they provide a complete service. Their telephone number is 965351945 or their website www.pfsamper.com may provide more information.
Thank you !
Thank you!

Neither my husband nor I have a funeral plan. If something happens to one of us, all that is required is removal of the body from hospital or mortuary in cardboard box, direct to the tanatorio for instant cremation. No service, no flowers, no fancy whatever. Why should we pay €4000 for that! Ou...

Is there ANYONE out there who can offer this simple service at a simple price?
Cardboard box is not permitted in Spain.
