Hi,

We have found a lovely holiday house in La Marina El Oasis that we are in the process of buying. We have for the past three summers renting a house in the area and now we are buying one ourselves.

Just to get to now the area a little bit better I have searched in forums and such for information. But I got really surprised and sad to read so many unpleasant comments. Now I am wondering if we have made the right decision to buy a holiday house here.

Would be nice to hear som good comments to lift our spirits :-)

Hi we have had our holiday home here for 12 years and yes you will see bad comments, like everything else everyone has their own opinion on things. I tend to find that in general people are more likely to post negative comments than positive, and I’m not just referring to La Marina.

I notice you’ve been staying in the area for the last 3 summers, you must like it to keep returning 😊. La Marina is not everyone’s cup of tea, however we bought our holiday home there as it was what WE decided. Over the years it’s changed and I love the fact that not only do I have Spanish neighbours, I now have French, German and Belgian and we are all friends and good neighbours. There are plenty of places to eat & drink, the beautiful beach is a 10 minute car drive, we often walk to it or go on our bikes, not in July or August though! We like to walk as you see more things than you do when driving. We are not far by car from Santa Pola, Guardamar,Rojales to name but a few.....there is so much more to discover! I have no qualms about walking on my own, I just do the sensible thing like I would anywhere else. No matter where you choose to buy, it will be heaven to some and hell to others...make your holiday home your little piece of heaven 🌞😊

As stated, always depends what sort of place you require, been here 15 yrs,big advantage it is not Benidorm, which suits some people, area probably more suited to those not in first flush of youth.

Thank you for your reply. I also think people tend to be more negative than positive unfortunately. We like it in La Marina and that is what matter:-)

Hi, my wife and I bought our holiday home here 15 years ago and we love it here. We live near International Stores, so not too far from Oasis, and we can walk to all the bars, restaurants and shops on the Urb. We spend a lot more time here now we’ve retired and so bought a car which we leave at the airport and pick up on arrival and is useful for visiting all the many towns and villages. Ignore the doom and bloomers enjoy yourself.

We've been here 15 years too, and it's a great place to live. You've got everything you need around this area, and prices are reasonable, especially for things like eating out, drinking wine etc.

I think a lot of the negative comments come from people seeking to justify their decision to return to UK, not only to everybody else, but maybe even to themselves as well.

Geoff.
