Have  been  looking   online  here, but finally getting  out to Alicante  in a few weeks  to see what  is it really  like to Live in  La Marina,  but will rent before  buying, It  is  hoped  that we can live permanently  in Spain and La Marina  seem  nice, We are not much  into Pubs but  will  visit  them once or twice a week  for dinner,

What it like for walking  site seeing  and  what  it like in  cold months,  many people  about,  What are beaches  like, and  any  social  clubs  to meet new friends  in  60,s  age group, active  couple, will  have  Transport  and  a  wee dog,

We  welcome  tips and advice  from this excellent  forum  and  people  with good knowledge of  the area

Thanks  in  advance

"In a few weeks", be prepared not to find anything resable before 2nd half of september. Be careful with property agents and do not pay anything upfront (reservation fee or the like), that money is gone. Usually a deposit of 2-3 months rent is requested. It is extremely hard to get this refunded in full at the end of the contract.

This has been covered before ,theres the village of La Marina on the coast and comes under the jurisdiction of Elche and the urbanization of La Marina  which we are on that is under San Fulgencio, I would definitely recommend renting  before buying on the urbanization ,we find it very quiet ,plenty of houses but think majority  are used as holiday homes ,plenty of bars and restaurants  but many are quiet in evenings as lack of tourists due to travel restrictions and in our experience an aged population  ,if you contrast that with 2 Spanish towns  we have visited in the evening over the past few days Dolores and La Mata ,these are vibrant places ,plenty of people of all ages going about their business, in fact there was a fantastic show In Dolores on Saturday night in one of the squares which was performed by young children and teenagers absolutely first class .We have had a change of heart and think we should have bought in one of these towns ,where there seems to be so much more happening  ,of course you will have people who disagree  and are happy on La Marina Urb
