Hi

As I bought a new build place last year and the council had not fitted street signs, the local postal service would not deliver mail so I gave my lawyers address as my Spanish address and the nhs sent the S1 certificate there. I have since acquired residency, padron and sip card albeit under pre ...

Regards

Jeff

Hi Jeff, how did you get a SIP card? I have the letter to say I qualify for a TIE but I don't qualify for a SIP.

Just as an aside, I was chatting to a guy from Northern Ireland recently and nothing's changed for those particular UK citizens they still have the same rights they previously had, so not only are we now 2nd class Europeans we're also 2nd class UK citizens with fewer rights than those living in another part of the UK.

Hi Paul,

To get a SIP card, you need to qualify for an S1, either because you are drawing your State pension, or you're in receipt of an 'exportable benefit' (or you're working in Spain and making NI contributions here).  When you make the application for your TIE, you have to prove that you have health cover, so if you're not eligible for an S1, that will mean private health insurance for at least the first year; then you can opt to switch to the Convenio Especial.

Kind regards,

Kim

Thanks Kim, I've currently got private health insurance as I'm a couple of years from state pension age.
