Its a family property Steve but my mum and dad passed away. Everything went through a solicitor. Still makes you wonder though?

Is it possible that your parents gave keys to somebody so that they could access the place in case of emergency, illness etc? Without visible damage, there would be little possibility of changing the locks without access keys etc I would think?

It is possible to change locks without other damage.  Once the new lock is in place there can be no sign that it has been done.

Understood, Thankyou. But is it possible that the parents gave keys to someone?

Like everyone else reading this post, I’m bemused.  If Zi had arrived at my property and couldn’t get in, I’d have called the police. I’d have camped outside and waited to see what exactly was going on if anything.  Could people be renting the place? Do you live in Spain?  What did you do when you couldn’t get into your house? We’re the security gates locked too?  Nobody is going to go to a property they don’t own or live in and change the locks without the permission of the owner. ok

Let’s move on.  Was the house left to you alone? Could another family member who had stayed there be using the place?  There has to be a simple answer.  Get back over to your property and get things sorted out asap.  Bring a translator with you and knock at all the neighbours doors and enquire from them if they’ve witnessed people coming and going.

I’m amazed that this has happened to you before and you never found a reason. When you got into the house on that occasion were there any signs of any occupancy?   Could you have mistakenly gone to the wrong house? So many places look exactly the same.

You must get to the bottom of this strange occurrence immediately.

Please keep us updated as we are all now interested and wishing you well.

There are any number of possibles here,  it's a very strange situation.

I imagine,  hope,  that the OP is engaging professional assistance to resolve this matter and that's the reason we've had scant details and replies that make little sense.

It will be interesting to see if,  when this is resolved,  we get a fuller picture and some more detail. I'll not hold my breath.

Good point, not only do properties look similar, but some of the addresses are so similar.

Some properties display two numbers as well, showing both the street number and the block number in the community.

It can be a right nightmare at times when you’re trying to collect a marketplace item trying to pinpoint the correct address. We went to one where the road had been built in two phases, instead of continuing the number sequence, when they built the second phase, they decided to start from number one again. With no indication on the road signs that there was two phases!

First port of call should definitely have been the guardia.

Has the OP checked her post box, the answer could well be in there.

I’m back again to ask more questions!

Back to the time your parents owned the house.  Did any other family member ever stay at the house?   Was the house left to you solely?   If you are correct and the locks have been changed in your house, somebody is paying to do this. Is there anyone with a grievance against you?   I’m presuming that the first time this happened the house showed no signs of a break and entry. If the house was sitting the way you left it then clearly someone had a key and they let the locksmith in.  Now comes the next strange thing.  You changed the lock so you were the only person who had the keys.  Somebody else had access to your keys so who could that be?   Only you knows that answer.

Are you certain that you were at the right house?  Do you have the deeds of the house with the correct address on them?   Did your parents live there or holiday?

I have never heard of anything like this.  Please reply Jenny.  I won’t sleep tonight until you tell us more.

So, you went to visit the house and found that the locks had been changed, when was the last time you actually went inside your property.

Is they any sign of life at the property, are the shutters down etc etc.

Hi  Grannyrose, I can understand your concern but the OP has not provided any salient information so all the kind people on this forum are doing a combination of Miss Marples and pin the tail on the donkey. The quality of advice on this forum is a function of the quality of the question asked. Since this poster has posted a completely incomprehensible tale, personally I wouldn't attempt to respond until they provided a coherent set of facts. My nose tells me this is a lot of bo##ox.
