That's good John, I'm still waiting for a response from BA on why our passports were not stamped (left Oct 30th). There were no border control staff at the departure gate, as it was mid-morning so no obvious reason for them not being there.

I can only think ,things weren't in place when you left we left from gate B20,as soon as we.came through  passport scanner to go to gate booth with female and male officers and passport stamped ,bit of a relief as with quite a few not having passports stamped and advise regarding keeping boarding passes etc ,hopefully next year things will be in place to make travel easier

We did get our passports stamped when we left in June, not really sure why not in October.  Alicante airport was very busy as it was the weekend of UK half term so possibly a shortage of staff. I cannot remember which gate we left from, it was behind the eating area in the centre of the airport.

Anyhow your message did prompt me to follow up (again) with BA. Hopefully I can get something back from them before we travel to Spain again in January.

Rgds,

Could I ask which UK airport your flying from with BA. I have a flight booked but when I looked to book an additional ticket in March they do not seem to be flying from Gatwick to Alicante. No one at BA seems to know what is going on.

Hi Kev,

I think your last sentence is the most relevant!

Our last 3 BA flights we have been from Heathrow, two of them switched from Gatwick. Around July/August BA cancelled all their flights from Alicante for the period Nov 1st to March 31st.

We have flights booked from Gatwick to Alicante for April next year but we noticed there are now no flights to Alicante showing on the BA website, though our flights have not been cancelled by BA.  When I called the Exec Club to ask what was happening they could not tell me anything other than when Operations decide they will let them know, then they can advise passengers.

I did see a article a few weeks back about BA starting a low cost airline next year, to operate out of Gatwick, supposedly starting in March '22 - https://onemileatatime.com/news/british-airways-gatwick-low-cost-carrier/

I suspect our April flights will be cancelled but who knows. I don't think there are any BA flights showing at the moment from either Heathrow or Gatwick to Alicante. They still fly to Valencia though but not an option for me.

I have even e mailed Sean Doyle, CEO, and have not had an answer to my question, is the flight cancelled. The reply was once they decide I would be informed. No doubt 90 days before we are due to fly. They cancelled our one 30/11/21 at the end of August. However, I had to pay a lot more to fly back. The best value ticket was 4 days earlier. We want to fly from Gatwick as my son only lives 3 miles away and I park the car at his house especially as we go for 10+ weeks.

Hi Paul,

I had more of less the same response on when they would tell us the flights were going ahead or not. If you want to fly from Gatwick then your best option at the moment is probably Easyjet.
