I am thinking of living in Spain and want to carry on plumbing. Do I pay tax etc the same as I do in the UK even though I wont be working full time and intend only on working for a few hours per week. What are the pit falls and what do I need to declare and not declare?

Thanks very much. I do intend to speak to a professional, i'm not too in to google searches etc (a lot can be misleading and conflicting with other information on the net) but what is the threshold as I don't want to work as hard as I do here anyway lol.

If you have to work to support yourself totally will have to work twice as hard for half the pay to survive but at lest the sun will be shining a lot of the time!

I think you'll find the Social security contributions are prohibitive to work part time, although I think you can pay reduced contributions at the start, for about six months. Full contributions are around €300 per month with accountant.

The recently introduced 'tarifa plana' allows new autónomos to pay €50 a month for the first twelve months in social security contributions. After that it's €270 a month. Plus there are the accountant's fees as mentioned above.
