I am a UK resident but I have a holiday home in Guardamar del Segura (Urbanización Buenavista), and I want to have a Power of Attorney drawn up to enable my daughter and son-in-law, also resident in the UK, to act on my behalf in the matter of my property and finances in Spain. I want to retain the right to act on my own behalf as well.

I am looking for a Spanish notary who has done this before, who speaks Spanish and English, and who is aware of both Spanish law and English law as they relate to Powers of Attorney.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Hi,

You need an Escriturer de Poder.

This must be notarised.

The Office of the Public Guardian are not involved in this and the Power only applies to your Spanish assets.

We can organise this for you and then, when you next come out to Spain, we will arrange for it to be notarised with a fluent English-speaking notary.

We can have a chat on the phone also beforehand so that you can understand the process and also what information will be needed.

I have a free slot next Wednesday 17th December at 2.15 p.m. GMT if that suits, to call you?

If so, just PM me with your telephone number and I will diarise for you and one of my colleagues will call you the day before to confirm.

Kind regards

Paul

I went to the notary José Pérez in Almoradí:

http://notariaperezjuan.es/

A POA has to be signed in front of a notary, José and his staff all speak excellent English, and I didn't see any point in paying the additional cost of using an intermediary.

If it's more convenient for you, you can do a POA at a Spanish consulate in the UK.

What was the approximate cost that you paid please. I can then compare what it would cost at the UK consulate

Thanks

It was €88 for my wife and I. But email the notary and check the current price, as ours was some years ago.

Following on from this, have you already or would you do a Spanish will with the same company. We probably need all of this.
