My wife posted some birthday cards 2 weeks ago and the lad behind the counter charged her 1.65e per card and it turns out that the correct price was 1.35e. I know the prices go on the weight but he didn’t weigh any of them or give her a receipt. it could be a genuine mistake. Its only 30c per card but the amount of people that use the post office it would certainly mount up. Alan.

Alan, It's only €1.35 if it's less than 20 grams and 'normalizada'.

I can't be bothered looking up the exact definition of normalizada, but it has to be within a certain size range, white or pale envelope, written in black ink and in block capitals of above a defined minimum size.

It's not either/or for the sizes, it's within those sizes.

If you send a lot of post, it might be helpful to make a template. Cut a piece of card 23.5 x 12 cm. In one corner draw a rectangle 14 x 9 cm.

If an envelope completely covers the small rectangle, but fits within the large one, then it's suitable.

Depends on the size of the envelope if it is bigger than a standard envelope the price goes up to 1,65. I always have to pay this because I print personal cards for all my family.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

The reason I know it was 1.35e is we had asked the people we sent them to to let us know that they had arrived ok. All the cards are a standard size because my wife makes them herself. My son came on facetime and showed us that his card had arrived and he also had the envelope in his hand with the stamp showing the price. We then asked the other family members and theirs was charged at 1.35e.I did say it could be a genuine mistake.
