Warning to all, my wife had her Rolex watch stolen today at the San Fulgencio/La Marina market.  They were professional thieves.  A young Eastern European woman approached her near the Overseas supermarket and distracted her and then removed the watch from her wrist before running off to a getaway car that an accomplice was waiting in nearby.  We have the plate number of the car and the Guardia Civil are now on the lookout for this car.  I hope they catch them.

Please be aware and if anybody approaches you asking for bogus directions or tries to get close to you then contact the police immediately.  This kind of thing must be stopped as it just tarnishes the whole area.

Unfortunately, this type of thing has been prevalent in Spain for absolutely years!

We have the details but weren't sure whether we would jeopardise anything by publishing them. But just FYI Siver Puegot 206 Reg 2799 FLT

Hi Ian,

Many thanks for the warning.  I'm sure your wife is upset, but I hope she's otherwise OK.

Kind regards,

Kim

Spain for all the time I have known it has been a pick pocket dream for the eastern Europeans especially the bulgarian/ Rumanian gypsy types.

I fully agree with your comment as this group have been active for years.  I'm sure they run evening classes in their home country.

In my home town of Bournemouth this gets reported weekly in the local paper.  The description is always the same. Usually it's two women and they tend to target older people. It's always Rolex and similar that get stolen.

It's a sad old world when you can't wear nice things.
