Which flour to use for scones in spanish
What is the flour called in spanish please
Harina con levadura is self-raising flour, but, normally you would buy flour and bicarbonate separatly, I don't think they sell that much self-raising flour in Spain, but I could be wrong.
Plain Flour: Harina regular or Harina Todo Uso (all-purpose flour).

Plain flour is Harina de Trigo (wheat flour), and is perfectly OK for scones and cakes. It's the largest stack of flour in the shop.
Bicarb is Bicarbonato de Sodio, or Bicarbonato Sodico, and usually comes in 1 kilo packs.
Baking powder is Levadura, or Levadura Quimico, and comes in sachets. This is one of the things I buy from Iceland, as they stock it in tubs.
Cream of Tartar isn't available in the Spanish shops we go to, and Iceland only sell it in sachets.
Don't bother buying expensive self-raising flour for cakes; just add 1 teaspoon baking powder to each 125 grams plain flour.
Thank you you mentioned bicarbonate so can you use this as well ? To harina de trigo cheers Lee

I mentioned all the possibles, as some recipes call for bicarb and cream of tartar instead of baking power.
And of course if you run out of baking powder you can mix 2 parts cream of tartar to 1 part baking soda to make your own.
You should get the Google translate app on your phone. We have found this really helpful.

I thoroughly agree with the use of the google translate app, we use it quite a lot when shopping to identify items both language ways.
