Hi Everyone, this is my first post so thank you for accepting me.

We are regular visitors to La Marina urb over the past few years till lockdown. We have always loved the area and are now coming over at Xmas this is our first time at this time of year.

We know it’s not going to be like when we come over in the summer or Easter, we plan to property hunt while out for two weeks, we are not in a hurry to buy but if we find the right property we will go for it.

Can anyone tell me what it’s like in La Marina urb over the Xmas period, we arrive on the 18th and will be out till New Year’s Day.

Are may bars open for us to watch football, and is anything open Xmas day, what about NewYears eve?

Thanks for reading and any advise you can offer would be much appreciated.

You can book excellent English Christmas dinners throughout the holiday period, including on Christmas Day at restaurants in Consum Square and  along Avenida Londres opposite the supermarket.  New Years eve there is an excellent  Firework display on Consum Square (always allowing for any Covid restrictions). You may be a little late for booking as all are very popular, especially the festive days.

The midnight mass on Christmas Eve in Crevillente is a wonderful experience for the singing and atmosphere.

I   I have memories of many years ago seeing the 3 Kings procession in Elche which were quite spectacular with fire eating dragons which scared our dogs to death but went a couple of years ago and was very, very sad to see a  not a patch on what they used to be but you could try Alicante or any other nearby town for a 3 kings procession, again depending on covid restrictions which may be in place.

I hope you enjoy your Christmas here on La Marina.  I am off to England  this festive season as I haven't had the chance to see my grandchildren for two years due to covid.

Thank you so much for your response. I will make some phone calls and see if we can get booked anywhere although I’m not overly worried about having a Christmas dinner.

Fireworks sound fantastic and Will defiantly be watching them.

We won’t have any transport to get about will need to stay on the urb but may hire a car once we are there if we need to.

I hope you have a wonderful time back in England with your grandchildren, it’s freezing here at the moment but no restrictions at all unless you are going to Scotland or Wales.

Thanks agian
