Hi Mark,
The bottom road there usually floods when we have heavy storm rains, but I've never noticed the water level being high enough to affect the houses. The roads are quite steep, so the water runs down to the acequia on the other side of the road. Costa Blanca South is generally a very dry climate, but when we do have heavy storm rains, the drains can't cope because of the amount of rain that comes down in a short period of time.
We were at The Grill House for dinner on the evening of Thursday 12 September. By the time we left, the storm and Gota Fria were in full swing. The police had erected barriers to prevent people driving down to the bottom road, but not a problem as we simply worked our way through the urb to come down onto the music notes road from a higher level (to get back to Los Palacios).
During 'normal' weather conditions, I'd be able to walk from the bottom road to the grey area in 20 minutes, but then I'm only 5' 3" with a 30" inside leg - hubby reckons he could do it in 15 minutes, but he's 6' 3" with a 35" inside leg. Flippin' show-off...... 😄
Kind regards,
Kim
