Hi, I know I am due a smear, mammogram, & bowel screening. I use to have these done in the UK & would be notified by text or letter asking me to attend these appointments or get a kit for bowel screening via post. How does it work in Spain as I've never been notified for any of these apart from the COVID jabs in 2020.

Thanks for any assistance.

Sorting after obtaining my SIP card, I revived a letter asking if I wanted to participate in in the bowel screening tests. Once I retuned the card , the kit comes through the post (every 2-3 years). Sample is then taken to the salud.

Mammogram is automatic appointment , although you have to complete a rather lengthy questionnaire on your first visit.  Stops at the age of 69

Smear test can be requested via your salud,   reminder  then automatic, although you have to make your own appointment,  they stop much earlier 64.

All results are confirmed by post

Hi,

I moved to Torrevieja in 2017 and I too had missed a mammogram.  I did get an appointment for a smear test and the doctor there gave me a phone number to book an appointment for a mammogram.  My doctor said I had to make the appointment myself.  I tried in November but was asked why I wanted one and some pretty stupid questions. I was told I would get a letter in the following February.  No letter arrived.  A friend recommended the Pink Ladies.  With them I got a mammogram at a private clinic and paid about 36 euros, Pink Ladies paid the rest.  They just don't help with mammograms but other tests too.  Just google them and ask, they are brilliant.

For your mammogram you can phone this

number and make an appointment for Torrevieja hospital. The appointment is free 966904786

I phoned in the morning and had an appointment in the afternoon.

If you contact the Pink Ladies, they can make you an appointment for a smear at IMed cost around 62 euros.
