Morning  everyone ,  I'm  sure your weather is better than our rain here,  WE are going to retire to this area  and I was wondering about the water , is the supply safe to drink and free from contamination , in the villa or is i all treated bottled water which has to be purchased from a  distributed. IT  may seem simple to you All but we've  never lived abroad on a permanent basis before. Many Thanks  , Sharon !.

This question gets asked almost on a weekly basis. You have three choices.

1. Fit a filter on your kitchen tap.

2. Buy bottled water.

3. Drink it directly from the tap.

But the answer to your question is YES, it's safe to drink. It may just taste a bit different the first few days.

When and if go home again, you will find that the water you have been drinking for years at home tastes different than you remember.

Hi we had a filter tap fitted to the kitchen sink. The filter only needs to be changed every 2 years.

I drink so much water throughout the day so thought it was a good investment.

Josie.

I'm with Kenneth and Ray. The water is perfectly OK to drink. There are quite a lot of minerals in it, so it should be good for you! But it's nowhere near as mineral laden as some places in the UK.

Every couple of weeks we squeeze a lemon into the kettle to remove any mineral build-up.

We drink the water direct from the tap here in Benidorm. We also use one of those Britax water jugs thst contains a filter to keep in the fridge, nice and cold.

We always drink the tap water.  I fill up a large plastic jug and leave it in the fridge and we don't filter it, it's perfectly safe. Even when we have a meal or a coffee in a bar I always ask for a glass of tap water. Regards, Susan
