Ambulance costs

I recently had need to call 112. Ambulance duly arrived and went to Torrevieja NHS hospital. I have residencia and a SIP card - but not available at the time: the card does not have an expiry date. I have now received a bill for the ambulance ride which appears to give me 7 days to prove the right to Public Health Care, and presumably delete the bill.
a) Why was I given a bill for ambulance use, and,
b) if the bill can be deleted to whom do I apply and where?
Any help/suggestions gratefully received.
