Hi Gloria

Thank you for your reply,

Yes looks like the state hospitals over here don't share any information with other hospitals, same in UK I expect, I had my other eye done in the UK a few years ago, and I can't remember all the rigmarole over there,

Just a blood pressure check before op to make sure it was not to high,

Brian.

G’day Brian,

I had the exact same situation advised to myself regarding my cataract removal operation.

The waiting list at Vieja Baja Hospital would have been up to 1 year, so they asked me if I minded going to “Quiron Private Hospital” in Torrivieja. I obviously said no worries. Within a month I had had the operation on my eye, by the head surgeon in ophthalmology whom speaks very good English.

So Brian, definitely go for it at “Quiron Private Hospital”, you will not regret, the surgeon is a very good ophthalmologist whom as many years of experience in all forms of eye operations.

After your eye is healed the ophthalmologist tests your eyes again…… meaning you may not have to wear prescription lenses again or maybe a different prescription is written that you can get different lenses at a retailer of your choice.

Good luck in seeing the world in a different light, after your cataract operation.

Hello

And this means what exactly?   This is a really helpful thread full of advice & personal experiences & on the whole positive so I'm not sure what your post  really adds to it.

Cheers

Hi Elinspain

Yes most things cheaper in Spain,

I have waited 1 year now,

and hopefully my cateract will be done soon, and I get my proper vision back,

Brian.

I think it was meant as somethings are Mannamead in Spain compared to UK, but I think at this moment in time all countries, have had to cut back, UK being worst than most with all of the strikes.

It really isn't helpful to compare countries.  We are all here in Spain because we chose to be and I for one am full of gratitude on the whole for the health service.  I have not had to wait too long for my cataracts operation and the wait I had was due to a bit of a mix up in phone calls over the Christmas period.  I have my operation this next Monday so wish me luck everyone and here's hoping I have good sight again at the end of it.
